Common Questions

Dress comfortably in neutral colors for the forecasted weather on the day of your trip. For wading trips you will need a pair of socks. On Float trips, any comfortable footwear will suffice. We recommend quick dry clothing if possible. A brimmed cap or hat, and polarized sunglasses are crucial for success. A rain jacket is always a good idea. In cooler weather, warm coats, hats, and gloves may be necessary. Waders, boots, rod, reel, and all necessary fishing tackle is provided at no additional charge, but feel free to use your own if you are more comfortable.

You are responsible for providing your own lunch and snacks. Coolers with space for your lunch, as well as ice, bottled water, and assorted drinks are provided.

Yes, a valid NC or TN state fishing license is required. Jerry will contact you the day before the trip to instruct you on which license to buy. DO NOT purchase licenses until instructed as fishing locations can change last minute due to weather conditions. Licenses can be purchased online and there is no need to print them. States require a drivers license number and social security number to purchase fishing licenses.

Trip Policies & Info

What is your cancellation policy?

It is never our intent to receive payment for services not rendered. Let us know if you have a problem with your scheduled date and we will work with you to  come up with a resolution. Trips cancelled by the guide due to dangerous weather or unsafe river conditions are fully refundable or can be rescheduled at your convenience.

What happens in case of bad weather?

We fish in rain or shine, as trout are often more active during overcast or light rainy conditions! However, severe weather such as lightning or extreme flooding makes fishing unsafe. Your guide monitors river conditions closely and will contact you to postpone, reschedule, or cancel if safety is compromised.

What regulations do we follow?

We strictly adhere to all North Carolina and Tennessee wildlife regulations to support conservation. Our trips are catch and release only.

Is guide gratuity included?

Gratuity is not included in the standard guiding fees. While tips are never mandatory, they are a traditional way to thank your guide for daily expenses, extensive preparation, hard work, local expertise, and instruction on the water. A typical gratuity ranges from 20% to 25% of the trip cost.
